Bing Bugs Out, Redirects IE6

  • June 4, 2009
A glitch in Microsoft's new search engine Bing took Internet Explorer Web browser users for a joy ride earlier this week. The problem resided in IE6, which many people still use. The bug was noticed after IE6 users began complaining they had previously set other search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, as the default, but searches typed into the browser were instead directed to Bing.

Microsoft acknowledged the issue and suggested downloading the last version, IE8. By Wednesday, the redirect problem on IE6 appeared to have been fixed, according to Computerworld security reporter Gregg Keizer. -- Laurie Sullivan
