The White House has said it will nominate Meredith Attwell Baker for the Republican FCC seat vacated by Deborah Taylor Tate. Baker is the daughter-in-law of former Secretary of State James Baker, a
longtime Bush family friend. Previously, Baker was acting head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, leaving that post in January.
