Chicago Tribune Increases Circulation

Chicago Tribune circulation overall and in the Chicagoland market increased daily and Sunday, according to the newspaper's filing with the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for the six months ended September 30, 2000. Overall, total daily circulation (Wednesday-Friday) increased 0.6% to 661,699. Sunday circulation grew by 0.2% to 1,007,236. Saturday circulation dropped 0.9% to 562,063. In Chicagoland, daily circulation increased 1.2% compared to the year-earlier period to 598,933; Sunday circulation grew 0.6% to 917,211; Saturday circulation decreased 0.5% to 503,624. In the 2000 Gallup Chicago Media Usage Poll (Jan.-June), Copyright 2000, the Chicago Tribune maintains its lead in readership. In the Chicagoland market, 46.3% of adults have read at least one issue of the weekday Chicago Tribune during the past week and 53.5% of adults have read at least one issue of the Sunday Chicago Tribune during the past month.
