Toshiba will begin producing its own Blu-Ray DVD players later this year, as well as notebook computers with Blu-Ray capabilities. "To meet the increasing consumer demand for high-definition content,
Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. will be entering the Blu-ray market," said Toshiba America in an unattributed statement. "We will share additional product information and details later this
year." Toshiba had previously developed its own high-definition disc format, HD-DVD, but it failed to catch on after many Hollywood studios and Wal-Mart backed the Sony-developed Blu-Ray format.
