Cory Shields, senior vice president-corporate communications and media relations at NBC Universal, has been named executive vice president-chief communications officer for J. Walter Thompson. He
succeeds JWT veteran Owen Dougherty, in a more expanded role that will include marketing and managing the agency's brand; "identifying and telling its many stories;" overseeing media relations and
internal communications; and directing philanthropic activities.
