FTC To Hold Public Discussions On Online Privacy

The Federal Trade Commission said Tuesday that it intends to hold public roundtable discussions about online privacy. The commission said the talks will "explore the privacy challenges posed by the vast array of 21st century technology and business practices that collect and use consumer data." Among other topics, the FTC will examine social networking, cloud computing, online behavioral advertising, mobile marketing, and the collection and use of information by retailers, data brokers, third-party applications, and others. The first roundtable has been scheduled for Dec. 7. --Wendy Davis
