Whiting Named To MarkMonitor Board

MarkMonitor, which focuses on enterprise brand protection, named Susan Whiting, vice chair of The Nielsen Company, to its board of directors. The Internet poses opportunities and challenges to brand management, while demanding new approaches to brand protection. According to MarkMonitor estimates, traffic diversion is estimated to cost online advertisers almost $2 billion, while the amount of business lost to online counterfeiters is expected to top $133 billion in 2009. Whiting joined Nielsen Media Research in 1978 as part of the company's management training program, and was named vice chair in November 2008.
