Game Show Network Wins Awards, Grows

  • June 11, 2001
The Game Show Network, the only 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to game shows and interactive game play, has been awarded two Clio awards -- a Silver and a Bronze -- for the network's brand awareness campaign. Titled "You Know You Know." Developed by TBWA/Chiat/Day San Francisco, the campaign -- featuring three energetic spots where "Marsupial," Sputnik" and "Botulism" are the correct answers -- illustrates how people can't help but play along with game shows.

The Silver Clio was awarded to Game Show Network in the category of Television Entertainment Promotion; the network's Bronze Clio recognizes the campaign excellence as a National Television Campaign. Clio Awards honor advertising excellence worldwide.

The Network has also increased its subscriber base by 10,285,000 from April 2000 through April 2001. The growth brings Game Show Network to a total universe estimate (UE) of 35,135,000 subscribers, according to Nielsen Media Research, as of May 2001. Additionally, Game Show Network's subscriber count grew by 39% from June 2000 to June 2001, the third highest growth percentage for a basic cable network, according to Nielsen. For the broadcast season to date, Game Show Network's prime time household ratings are up by 25% and audience delivery has gained by 56%.
