Sears Readies Blue Crew For Appliance Rebates

  • December 10, 2009
Now that the "Cash for Appliance" rebates are finally coming through the pipeline, Sears says it is mobilizing its Blue Appliance Crew sales force to help consumers cash in.

The $300 million in federal funds is administered by each state, and in addition to tracking tools at Sears.com/energystar, Sears says its Blue Crew members can direct consumers to best buys for their state. The Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based retailer says it will send email updates to customers when rebates go live, and help consumers submit rebates before they leave the store.

Sears, which is also the only national retailer certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, will also help with recycling old appliances. (In some states, it's required; in others, it may qualify shoppers for additional rebates.)--Sarah Mahoney
