The new network's New Age/Smooth Jazz, Urban, and Top 40 stations took the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots respectively in the MeasureCast rankings for the week of June 11-17. It's Country station secured the 17th position.
Among the 21 comparable stations from the previous week's Top 25 list, seven saw increases in the total number of hours streamed -- also known as Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL). Significant increases in TTSL were made by Virgin Radio (39%), and Cablemusic Network's Country station (36%). Additionally, 11 stations enjoyed an increase in estimated unique listeners, or CUME.
Meanwhile, the MeasureCast Internet Radio Index dropped 4.8% last week from 180 to 172, meaning the total number of hours streamed by on-line broadcasters measured by MeasureCast has increased 72% since January. The index tracks the total number of hours streamed by on-line broadcasters, and is a representation of the trend in Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL) across a spectrum of stations measured by MeasureCast.
Other facts from this week's report: - 78% of all listening occurred between 5 a.m. PDT and 5 p.m. PDT.
- The peak listening hour was 11 a.m. Pacific, with 8% of the day's listening.
- 12% of the week's TTSL took place over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday combined)
- The peak listening day was Thursday, with 19% of all TTSL occurring on this day.
- The largest single age group listening to Internet radio last week was comprised of people 25-34 years old (29%); 55% of listeners are under 35 years of age; 26% are younger than 25, and 7% are over the age of 55.
- 72% of listeners are men; 28% are women.
Measurecast also announced today that five more on-line broadcasters have signed up for the MeasureCast Streaming Audience Measurement Service. MeasureCast has contracts with companies representing more than 2,000 on-line stations.
The new subscribers are: KCRW (www.kcrw.org), streamed by Santa Monica College; RadioCentral (www.radiocentral.com), which streams through Akamai and iBEAM; Radio Voyager (www.radiovoyager.com); Virgin Radio (www.virginradio.co.uk); and the XACT Radio Network (www.xactradio.com), all of which are self-streamers.
