In the wake of Google's scuttled deal for local guide site Yelp, rival service Citysearch has announced launching an Android application encompassing 15 million local businesses. The app will allow users to post reviews, search listings, share tips and browse local information. Citysearch has previously introduced apps for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Palm devices as well as operating its own mobile site.

Separately, all-things-app site Appolicious Tuesday unveiled -- you guessed it -- its own iPhone app. The new mobile offering will provide iPhone app news and reviews as well as recommendations based on ratings and comments from the Appolicious community.

"Now there's an app for finding the app for that," quipped Appolicious founder and CEO Alan Warms. Started by the former Yahoo exec earlier this year, the company last week raised an additional $1.5 million from Apex Venture Partners. The firm had previously provided $500,000 in seed capital.
