Outdoor Hunts Down 7 New Shows In '10

Outdoor Channels

Outdoor TV has slated seven new shows in the first quarter of 2010. All target the traditional sportsman -- fishing, hunting and shooting -- and are hosted by notables in their respective fields. To enhance the viewing experience for enthusiasts, the network is also pushing its high-def formats.

In addition to its cable channel, Outdoor runs on multiple media platforms: HD, video-on-demand and its broadband Web site, www. outdoorchannel.com, which includes an extensive video library and strong interactive community section.

Tom Hornish, COO, Outdoor Channel, stated the network is home to "the best outdoor producers, expert talent and top conservation and membership organizations in the traditional outdoor genre."

The new series include "Drop Zone TV," "Nosler's Magnum TV," "S.W.A.T. Magazine TV," "Top Truck Challenge," "World Class Bowhunting," "Backroads with Ron & Raven" and "Alaskan."

"Drop Zone" is hosted by Hal Shaffer of Outdoor's "Huntin' the World...Southern Style" and NASCAR's Greg Zipadelli. The show will feature NASCAR pros, NFL players and even country-music stars. This season, for example, former WWE World Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin, will pursue his biggest whitetail yet.

"Nosler's Magnum TV" is hosted by NRA-ILA executive director Chris Cox and focuses on professional hunters and Magnum Hunt Club members who stalk their game from the Midwest to Africa.

By contrast, "S.W.A.T. Magazine TV," anchored by Rob Pincus, takes an inside look at the training of law enforcement and military personnel. Viewers also learn some self-defense techniques.

On the documentary front, "Alaskan" travels to Nome, Alaska, population 3,500, for a documentary series that highlights the natural beauty of the region -- a pristine setting that grizzly bears, moose and musk ox call home.
