'Lost' Sweepstakes Reveal Peek At Upcoming Premiere

ABC's

Pasadena, Calif. -- For the first episode of ABC's "Lost"'s final season, the network is unveiling a sweepstakes campaign that will feature washed-up like bottles giving winners access to "Lost" scenes.

Michael Benson, executive vice president of marketing for ABC Entertainment Group, in an interview with MediaPost at the Television Critics Association meeting, says the campaign will include 815 winning bottles, Viewers can enter to win through an online Web site.

That number pertains to the flight number of the survivors of "Lost," Oceana Airlines 815. Inside, the 815 bottles will have fail-safe keys, similar to the one that character Desmond used to open the infamous hatch where the Dharma Initiative operations are based.

Attached to those keys are USB drives, which will have the first couple of scenes -- about five minutes -- of the premiere episode. Benson says: "It'll show initial scenes, but it won't give away the story lines."

"Lost" will premiere for its final season, its sixth, on Feb. 2.

In previous seasons, ABC has done a host of promotions for the show -- including faux Oceanic Airlines billboards and a faux Web site, FlyOceanicAir.com, which ran a year ago. ABC also has the "The Lost Experience," a Web-based alternative reality game.
