MTV Rethinks Position On Em

  • June 27, 2001
They brought you Tom Green, they brought you Jackass, they brought you Undressed, but they almost didn't bring you a video from one of pop culture's preeminent superstars. In a case of nearly biting off the hand that feeds it, MTV has finally decided to air Eminem's group, D12's video for the song "Purple Pills," but a heavily edited version, and only during the overnight hours. The video has already cleaned up the lyrics drastically, even going so far as changing the title to "Purple Hills." MTV's decision may have been swayed by Eminem's intense popularity, as D12's album is expected to go gold in its first week strictly off the strength of his name.
