Rather than leave AT&T in the cold -- as was previously rumored -- sources tell Fox News that Apple will let both Verizon and AT&T carry its impending tablet device. Unfortunately, when Apple unveils
its tablet on Wednesday, there are no guarantees it will get into logistical details like cost or carrier partners.
"It sounds odd for Apple to have a major press event without a final
carrier deal, but then again, Apple held an event for the iPhone 3GS before MMS messaging and tethering were officially supported by AT&T," Fox News notes. That said, Fox's sources insist that Apple
is in talks the both wireless companies, and Fox isn't surprised. "The AT&T part isn't surprising, given early reports that the tablet would rely on HSDPA, a feature used by AT&T that, according to
company spokesman Mark Siegal, 'effectively doubles the speed of our 3G network.'"
