Online tax prep company eSmartTax.com has hired a customer as its official spokesperson.
Out of 2,715 people in the U.S. with the same name, Daryl Johnson of Richmond, Va. was selected to represent "the millions of everyday tax filers, who -- just like Daryl -- work hard, play hard and want to receive the biggest, fastest refund they deserve come tax season," according to the company.
Johnson will appear in TV, print, Web and radio ads for the company, which is a subsidiary of Virginia Beach, Va.-based Liberty Tax Service. Video ads featuring Johnson spending his entire refund at a nightclub are running on the company's YouTube page.
Johnson is also tweeting about the experience on Twitter and giving away $100 Visa gift cards to his followers in a daily drawing. His Twitter followers are asked to tweet him telling him how they're going to spend their tax refund.--Tanya Irwin
