Macy's Plans Vocal Pyrotechnics For July 4th

  • February 10, 2010
Here's a blizzard-banishing vision: Macy's says that American Harmony will be the theme of its Fourth of July Fireworks.

In addition to 40,000 pyrotechnic shells exploding over the Hudson River, the retailer says the 26-minute show will also include a variety of American vocals, "from a cappella and gospel to barbershop quartets and choral ensembles," featuring The New York Pops orchestra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

This is the 34th year that Macy's has put on the show, and the company says it expects this year's production, staged from six different barges, to be seen by more 3 million spectators.--Sarah Mahoney
