AdStar, an application service provider for the classified advertising industry, has signed a contract with Knight Ridder to provide web-based classified advertising sales functionality for its
newspapers. As part of the agreement, AdStar will develop and host private-label classified ad transaction web pages for Knight Ridder's newspapers' websites. Initially, AdStar will integrate its
technology into the websites of several Knight Ridder newspapers, including the Akron Beacon Journal, The Charlotte Observer, Contra Costa Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Kansas City Star and
Saint Paul Pioneer Press.
