Ex-MySpacers Get A Jolt Out Of Gaming Aggregator

Mind Jolt

Several ex-MySpace execs, including co-founder Chris DeWolfe, have partnered with Austin Ventures to acquire a social gaming platform named MindJolt. DeWolfe -- onetime CEO at MySpace -- is joined by Colin Digiaro, former head of monetization at the social network, along with Aber Whitcomb, former chief technology officer and co-founder of the site. MindJolt, which aggregates over a thousand casual games online, claims some 20 million monthly active unique users.

"MindJolt has quickly become an 'onramp' to the Internet for the world's independent game developers," said DeWolfe. "We're building out the company to become the next generation platform for game developers."

Digiaro will now serve as chief operating officer at MindJolt, while Whitcomb will serve as its chief technology officer. The new team plans to extend the platform by focusing on three major initiatives including increased monetization through major brand partnerships and virtual good offerings, working more closely with game developers, and expanding its presence globally.

The company will remain headquartered in San Francisco, while it also plans to open an office in Los Angeles.

MindJolt's new SVP of business and corporate development Josh Yguado once served as a VP of business development at Fox Networks Group -- a sister division of News Corp. Chris Pacitti, general partner of Austin Ventures, described the chance to work with MySpace's founders as "a rare opportunity."

DeWolfe left MySpace last April amid a major restructuring.
