Starwood Hotels Launches Scavenger Hunt

  • May 13, 2010
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is conducting a global social media scavenger hunt.

The SPG "Passport to Free Weekends" contest began May 12 and will award a total of 200 Free Weekend Nights to 100 winners over the course of 10 business days. Participants can find clues on Facebook and Twitter leading them to the Starwood property that holds the daily free weekends prize. Each day, Starwood will award the first 10 winners with two free weekend nights.

The clues will drive members to a particular hotel in one of the nearly 100 countries where Starwood has a presence. The winning location will rotate each day, incorporating each of Starwood's nine brands, including St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Le Méridien, Westin, Sheraton, Aloft, Element and Four Points by Sheraton.--Tanya Irwin

Having a scavenger hunt with a prize raises awareness of the Starwood brand on social media sites and gets the Starwood name out to consumers. Having this prize related event is a good idea because most companies struggle to raise awareness for their social media sites such as twitter and facebook. This allows consumers to check out their websites in a fun and rewarding way.
