Toyota Down, Hyundai Up In Cars.com Study

  • June 1, 2010
A study by Cars.com, the Consumer Lead Index, says Toyota's recalls are still having a negative impact on sales. The firm says leads for Toyota vehicles overall declined close to 5% year over year on Cars.com, and interest in the brand's vehicles continues to slip month over month. The Toyota RAV4 topped the list of vehicles experiencing the largest month-over-month decline in leads, followed closely by the Camry.

As a brand, Honda saw Cars.com leads decline by close to 11% year over year. The Honda Fit, Pilot and Accord also joined the list of cars experiencing the largest decline in activity month over month, per Cars.com.

Partly because of its new Hyundai Sonata, that company saw leads on Cars.com increase by more than 149% in May compared to last year and leads for the Sonata were up more than 30% over April, per the firm.--Karl Greenberg
