Radio is Major Source of News and Info

  • September 27, 2001
Radio was a major source of news and information in the hours immediately following the terrorist attacks on September 11, according to a survey conducted by RoperASW. More than one-third (36.5%) of Americans surveyed, ages 25-34, first learned of the attacks from the radio, according to the study, which revealed that radio continues to be a strong source for breaking news. Almost all adults (98.7%) in the United States turned to media for more information about the terrorist attacks. Of those adults who responded that they turned to the media for more information about the terrorist attacks, over one in five (21.8%) turned to radio for that information, and one in ten turned only to radio for that information. -- Adam Bernard
