Chick-fil-A Unveils World's Largest Sweet Tea

  • August 5, 2010
Tulsa, Okla.-area Chick-fil-A restaurants have set a Guinness World Record for creating the world's largest sweet iced tea -- a 9'-tall cup holding more than 1,140 gallons of freshly brewed sweet tea and ice.

An official Guinness World's Record adjudicator was on hand to verify the record, achieved during an all-day event on Aug. 4 in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Operators and staff from five Chick-fil-A restaurants worked with volunteers from Tulsa-area schools, churches and community groups to create the record-setting drink. The process required 72 pounds of tea leaves, 1,150 pounds of sugar, one ton of ice and 912 gallons of water.

The activity promoted special Guinness World Record activity packs being given out with Chick-fil-A Kid's Meals between now and Aug. 28.  The series of five packs offer activities and "Do Try This at Home" challenges meant to encourage fun parent-child interaction and active playtimes with friends, according to the chain.

    "...1,150 pounds of sugar"

Great PR stunt for Chick-fil-A, but this just further illustrates why we have health and obesity problems in this country.
