Deadline.com has hired Michael Speier, formerly
Daily Variety's executive editor for news, as its managing editor, based in parent company MMC's Los Angeles headquarters. Previously, Speier had
spent 12 years at
Variety, running both the Gotham editing and handling special reports for the Oscars, Emmy, cable and network TV, etc. Most recently, Speier led the Walt Disney Parks and
Resorts editorial team.
