60 Minutes Goes Into 'Overtime'

  • September 15, 2010

"60 Minutes" is introducing a new site featuring original, Web-only content that will launch when the CBS news magazines kicks off its 43rd season on Sept. 26. 60MinutesOvertime.com each will produce three new stories derived from the show's TV segments and featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with correspondents and staffers about the reporting and production of stories.

"So much goes into the reporting of a 60 Minutes story and often there's more original material that doesn't make the broadcast, or interesting back stories we don't get to share with the viewer.  Now we have a place to do that," said executive Producer Jeff Fager, in a statement. And who can't wait to see Andy Rooney before makeup?

The site will also include social media elements encouraging audience feedback and building on 60 Minutes' presence on Facebook. CBS also plans to launch an new iPad app packaging 60 Minutes content. Segments from the show are already available on demand via CBSNews.com. --Mark Walsh
