Green Lantern, The Roller Coaster

  • September 16, 2010
Just when you thought it was possible that you have ridden all of the adventure, horror, comic-hero and automotive race-car inspired roller coasters there are to ride, Six Flags Great Adventure, in Jackson, N.J., is launching a new one. The ride is tied to DC Comics' Green Lantern. Get yer discomfort bags ready. The 15-stories-high, three-quarters of a mile long green-steel behemoth goes about 63 mph, and has riders standing up throughout the entire course of the ride.

The ride, which the company says takes two minutes and thirty seconds thrill starts with a vertical drop then proceeds to subject riders to five inversions, a 121-foot-tall loop, a 103-foot dive loop and a 72-foot inclined loop, ending in twisted double corkscrews. Defibrillation paddles not included. You might want to start lining up now. The "Green Lantern" feature is set for release next June.

This isn't exactly a new Ride. It was originally built in 1997 at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Kentucky (Currently Closed) as CHANG. It is in the process of being moved to its new home in New Jersey, where it is receiving a new name.
