Lands' End Contest Offers Trips To Canada

Landsend

Lands' End is partnering with the Canadian Tourism Commission for the "Real Adventure Winter Getaway" promotion, which will award three contestants a "trip of a lifetime."

The Dodgeville, Wis.-based retailer has created a microsite at www.landsend.com/thehub. Entrants are asked to submit an essay (up to 200 words) detailing which Lands' End outerwear pieces they would take on a Canadian adventure.

Three grand prize winners will be chosen to win one of the Canadian adventures, which include round-trip airfare, transportation, activities for four people and $2,000 cash. The contest ends at midnight on Nov. 4.

Lands' End is promoting the contest via the microsite, Facebook, Twitter and customer emails. The retailer will hold a Twitter party on Oct. 19 from noon to 2 p.m., complete with outerwear prizes to promote the contest, according to a Lands' End spokesperson.

Anybody is welcome to join the Twitter party. Lands' End hosts will be available to answer outerwear questions, while the CTC will be on hand to answer Canadian travel questions. The party will feature more than a dozen outerwear product giveaways and a $500 grand prize gift card from Lands' End. The location of the party is #landsend, #traveltuesday and Twitter users can follow @LandsEndPRAdam, @LEprMolly, @LEprLibby, @LandsEndChat, @keep_exploring for more details.

The Canadian Tourism Commission also is promoting the contest on its home page at http://uscw.canada.travel/.

"We know that our customers enjoy traveling the world in their Lands' End apparel from the amazing pictures and stories they continually share with us," Michele Casper, spokesperson for Lands' End, tells Marketing Daily. "To celebrate the start of the outerwear season, we created the 'Real Adventure Winter Getaway' contest to engage with our customers."

The getaways include a skiing trip in Alberta, including lessons and lift tickets, and accommodations at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and then the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise at picturesque Banff National Park. The second trip is five days in Montreal and Quebec City where the winners can choose from an array of tourist activities.

The third trip is a getaway to the Yukon, which is described by its locals as "larger than life." The travel winners who head to this Canadian territory will experience six days, the contest winner and three guests will experience a variety of guided activities (depending on the month selected) such as dog sledding the Yukon wilderness or hiking the black granite peaks of Tombstone Territorial Park.
