Radio Signals: Jelli Goes Mobile with iPhone App

Jelli App Jelli is making it easier to participate in its crowd-sourced radio service with a free iPhone app for voting on the go. Users simply choose a genre for the company's streaming audio stations or affiliated radio stations and vote on the song that's currently playing by tapping "Rocks" or "Sucks."

Songs garnering enough positive votes move up the station playlist, getting more airtime; songs which get negative votes are booted down the playlist. Enough negative votes can get a song pulled off in mid-play.

Jelli CEO Mike Dougherty stated: "The Jelli iPhone app makes it easy and fun for listeners to participate in a community of music fans, and to control their favorite radio station on the go."

Users can see the top scoring songs for each station; they can browse the full catalogs, voting for songs they want to hear. The new Jelli app also offers users search and favorite lists.

In March, Jelli and Triton Media began syndicating two crowd-sourced broadcast radio programs using Jelli's interactive social-media platform. Thus, in addition to Jelli's various online streaming audio stations, the company has syndicated its service to FM radio stations in major markets, such as New York, Boston, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Jelli users can vote for both the streaming audio stations and FM station airplay through the iPhone app.
