Kids Coming Back To Restaurants

Restaurant visits by parties with children increased by 1% between June and August of this year, compared to the same three months in 2009, according to NPD Group foodservice market data.

While that might not seem like big news, this was the first positive showing in this trend since fall 2007--and another sign that things are beginning to look up a bit for the industry. 

Families or parties with kids make a significant contribution to volume and sales.  Last year, even with restaurant visits down, these dining groups accounted for 14 billion meals and $70 billion in sales, NPD reports.
