Internet Ad Spending Far Higher Than Industry Estimates

  • by June 26, 2000
Making a dramatic entrance into the world of advertising measurement, AdZone Interactive calculates total ad expenditures on the Internet for January were significantly greater than previously estimated. AdZone's measurement of 1,000 leading web sites places ad spending for January at $819 million when other industry guesstimates have weighed in far lower. While many wait for May figures, AdZone already has the numbers -- $1.213 billion.

AdZone Interactive's service (http://www.adzoneinteractive.com) is being launched this week. The Manhattan-based company uses its advanced technology retrieval system to track advertising on web sites for corporate or political clients needing competitive information. It is able to deliver complete ad data within 24 hours.

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, AdZone will track advertising on the over 1,000 web sites that comprise more than 95 percent of all internet advertising revenue from banners, text ads, keywords, links, buttons pop-ups, interstitials and hover text. No other tracker includes online services' web sites such as AOL and MSN as well as the web publications and search engines that account for half the advertising dollars on the net. AdZone can also record the creative text of specific ads and can monitor sounds, video and other multi-media advertising on a selective basis.

Monthly or customized reports from AdZone include information such as parent company, brand, expenditure, industry date range, impressions, geographic location, the ultimate destination of a click through and site information. Reports on web advertising in European, Asian, Pacific Rim and Central/South American sites will be available through AdZone in the near future.
