N.J. Nets To Host Evening Of Russian Culture

  • January 6, 2011
The New Jersey Nets NBA team will host its first-ever Evening of Russian Culture presented by Aeroflot Russian Airlines, when the team faces Russian star Andrei Kirilenko and the Utah Jazz on Jan. 19 at the Prudential Center.

Other sponsors of the event are the Russian American Foundation, Rheem Bell & Mermelstein, LLP, and Jacob & Co.

The event includes Russian music to be played during the game. Also, the Nets and the Russian American Foundation are holding auditions for all Russian-speaking youth, ages 12 to 20, to perform the U.S. National Anthem at the game.

The auditions are, appropriately enough, at Tatiana Restaurant at 3152 Brighton 6th St. in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn on Monday. In December, the Nets launched www.netsrussia.com, a Russian-language Web site.
