WABC Plans Newscast Post-Oprah

For the first time in 25 years, there will be no "Oprah Winfrey" show on WABC to lead into the 5 p.m. newscast. Dave Davis, general manager of Channel 7, told Crain's the plan is to add another hour of local news, and become the only New York station with a 4 o'clock newscast. The station will do away with the hefty "Oprah" licensing fee and now keep more revenue. WABC had revenue of $219 million in 2009, per BIA/Kelsey.
