NRF: Retail Sales To Gain 4% In 2011

The National Retail Federation predicts that retail sales will gain 4% in 2011, which it describes as a "cautiously optimistic outlook," on the heels of seven consecutive months of retail sales gains, and somewhat better than expected holiday sales.

While it notes that the prospects for stronger spending are improving, "inflation from rising commodity prices and continued high unemployment could become obstacles to economic growth."
