Joe Uva To Leave Univision

Uva

Just as Univision Communications targets an influx of ad dollars from a U.S. Census showing a growing Hispanic population, Joe Uva is leaving the CEO post.

A statement from the Spanish-language media company said Uva has informed the board of the privately held operation that he has opted not to renew his contract, which ends April 2.

Haim Saban, the executive chairman, will "assume additional responsibilities" until a new CEO is named after a search process.

Saban stated that Univision "would like to commend Joe for his tremendous contributions over the past four years. Univision is a better company today due to Joe's efforts in building a strong leadership team and positioning Univision for long-term success. Univision's business is strong, and the entire management team remains focused on delivering value to its customers and stakeholders. We wish Joe the best in his future endeavors."

Uva, who took the job after leading agency OMD, stated: "The team is strong, and I have decided the time is right for me to capitalize on other opportunities. I know that Univision will continue its great success as the premiere Spanish-language media company in the U.S."

Among the executives Uva brought to Univision is Randy Falco, formerly of NBCUniversal.
