Univision Loses Another Top Executive

On the heels of Joe Uva's departure as president/CEO of Univision, one of the big Spanish-language network's most senior advertising sales executives has also left.

Peter Lazarus, most recently its executive vice president of network sales, is no longer with Univision, according to a company spokesperson.

After Uva's departure two weeks ago, it was announced that Lazarus would shift to executive vice president of sales strategy. He was replaced by Maelia Macín as executive vice president of network sales for Univision Networks, reporting to David Lawenda, president of advertising sales and marketing for Univision Communications.

Lazarus has been in this position at Univision for three years.

For much of his 10-year career, Lazarus had several senior positions at NBC Universal, including senior vice president of sports and Olympic Sales and marketing. For the 2006 Torino and 2004 Athens Olympic Games, he led a team in pulling in a collective $2 billion in ad sales. Before coming to Univision, he was senior vice president of sales and entertainment at IMG Sports and Entertainment.

Lazarus' time at NBC coincided with Randy Falco, who in January became EVP/COO of Univision. Falco was hired to bolster Univision's senior executive suite. Since Uva's departure, he is assumed to have taken over much of his duties.

Falco spent three decades at NBC, ending in 2006 before his departure to AOL. His last NBC position was president of the NBC Universal Television Network Group. He also was COO of the Olympics.
