Airborne Email

  • March 27, 2001
Passengers on Virgin Atlantic flights will be able to send and receive email and view Web pages under terms of an agreement with Tenzing Communications Inc. (http://www.tenzing.com/). Tenzing will work with Virgin Atlantic in the production of new Airbus 340-600 aircraft to install on-board servers. Its system uses satellite communications equipment for air-to-ground communications with an on-board proxy server, delivering content to passengers over a local area network in the cabin. No date was announced for the start of the service. Air Canada recently conducted a test of Tenzing's service.
