Yesterday NBC and its affiliates arranged the details of an optional agreement in which affiliates allow the network to handle retransmission consent negotiations for them. NBC affiliates board
chairman Brian Lawlor described it as "a brand new kind of deal," that "completely changes the network-affiliate model."
