Fox's Upfront Take: Estimated $2B Haul

Fox has closed its upfront sales process, saying it achieved "significant growth" in both volume and pricing, but the network did not offer specific details.

Volume is estimated to have come in just south of $2 billion, while pricing growth was in the 11% range.

Last year, the network had total commitments somewhere in the $1.8 billion to $1.9 billion range.

Fox ended this past season as the top-rated network in the key 18-to-49 demo, although its ratings were down versus the year before. "American Idol" had a measure of resurgence as finale ratings were up over the year before, which may have boosted its upfront leverage.

Also helping is the potential for "The X Factor" to be a hit in the fall, which would give Fox a surge in rating points. There is some speculation that next season could be the last for drama "House," which could lift ratings there, especially in the spring.

In addition to "X Factor," Fox has four new shows in the fall.
