Shkolnik Pushes Social Media For Digitaria

Stephanie-Shkolnik

To get its clients' "likes," tweets, and +1's in order, digital agency Digitaria has hired Stephanie Shkolnik as its new social media strategist.

Shkolnik joins Digitaria from Double Forte in San Francisco, where she led the public relations and marketing communications company's social efforts.

"She gets social media," said Daniel Khabie, Digitaria's founder and CEO of Shkolnik. "In her last position [Shkolnik] showed a real knack for the creation of clients' social personas."

At Double Forte, Shkolnik shepherded Fresh Express through its first socially based brand awareness campaign. Making use of Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social platforms, Shkolnik also helped execute campaigns for Major League Gaming and "hydration" backpack maker CamelBak.

"Social is still a place where you can be a pioneer and set in place foundations for change that will resonate for years to come," said Shkolnik, who reports to Digitaria COO Doug Hecht.

Founded in 1997, Digitaria was acquired by WPP's JWT New York nearly a year ago. In line with industry-wide trends, the deal was designed to accelerate JWT North America's move toward placing digital at the core of the agency.

Digitaria presently functions as a unit of JWT North America, helping to service JWT's clients, as well as its own, using its proprietary "Digital Brand Migration" approach. The company specializes in transferring brands to multiple digital platforms, such as Web sites, mobile devices, touchscreens, social-media applications and kiosks.

Clients include the National Football League and several of its franchises, along with Best Western International, Hasbro, DreamWorks Animation, NBC Universal and Qualcomm.

Including Shkolnik, Digitaria says it has hired 13 new employees in just the past month.
