Little Tapped To Lead Newspaper Association of America

Caroline-LIttle

Caroline H. Little, former CEO North America of Guardian News and Media Ltd, has been named president of the Newspaper Association of America.

Little was lauded by NAA chairman Michael Reed, who said the organization's board of directors was impressed with her expertise in digital publishing and legal affairs.

Reed cited her work with the Online Publishers Association and the Internet Advertising Bureau as key factors in guiding NAA's future. "Equally important, she shares our members' passion for journalism and their commitment to succeeding in the digital media landscape," he stated.

Most recently, she supervised U.S. operations for Guardian News and Media Ltd., which include guardian.co.uk and ContentNext Media. In addition, she served on Google's Publisher Advisory Council from 2007-2008.

Prior to that, Little was with Washington Post Newsweek Interactive, serving as publisher and CEO. She joined The Washington Post Company in 1997 as vice president and general counsel of WPNI. Before WashPo, she was deputy general counsel for U.S. News & World Report, The Atlantic Monthly and Fast Company.

She joins at a tough time in the newspaper industry, which is coping with steep losses in advertising and circulation.

Little said she was eager to work with publishers to "further integrate newspapers in all forms -- including digital, print and mobile -- into the ever-changing media landscape."

She replaces John Sturm, who retired.
