Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. has promoted Deborah Burns to the post of vice president and publisher of ELLEgirl. Burns, currently the mag's vice president, global advertising, replaces Jeanne
Schwenck, who is getting married and relocating from New York. Schwenck will remain with the magazine through the end of the year. ELLEgirl's ad pages are up 84% through December 2003 against the same
period in 2002. New advertisers include JLO Fashion, Le Sportsac, Federated Stores, Virgin Mobile and Sprite. Effective February 2004, the magazine's frequency will increase from six to eight times a
year and its rate base will climb to 500,000 from 400,000. In her previous role, Burns was been responsible for advertising placed by U.S. companies in all ELLE, ELLEgirl and ELLE Decor international
editions. She has spent 19 years with Hachette.
