Media Account Turnover Continues To Ebb

Media account turnover, which has been ebbing throughout 2003, posted another modest month in October, according to an ongoing tracking report, released Monday by MediaAnalysisPlus. Only $230 million in media account billings changed agencies in October, down from $318 million in September 2003 and down from $426 million in October 2002. Through the first 10 months of 2003, advertisers have shifted a total of $4.93 billion in media assignments, down from $7.99 billion during the same period in 2002. MAP CEO Jim Surmanek noted that several major media account reviews are currently in the pipeline, including the massive Coca-Cola Co. assignment, as well as Masterfoods.
