Nissan Brings Leaf Owners Together For Plug-in Day

  • October 14, 2011

Nissan says the 7,200 consumers who own Nissan's Leaf electric car in the U.S. will be part of a "National Plug In Day" on Oct. 16. The new event, sponsored by Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association, brings consumers in 26 cities together for electric car parades, "tailpipe-free" tailgate parties, lectures, and other grassroots programs. The effort is delineated at www.pluginamerica.org/pluginday.

Also, on Oct. 21 Nissan is backing the theatrical premiere of the documentary Revenge of the Electric Car, which prominently features the development of the Nissan Leaf. The film premieres in Los Angeles and New York, followed by other U.S. cities. Filmmaker and electric-car advocate Chris Paine directs the movie, which features executives including Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.
