Weather Channel Scores During Storm

As the Northeast braced itself for one of the most severe winter storms of all time, The Weather Channel delivered a preliminary 1.1 total day (5 a.m. – 2 a.m.) weight-averaged rating Feb. 16 across the 55 metered markets. The Weather Channel said Wednesday that the figures represent 69% of U.S. television homes and was 267% higher than The Weather Channel’s average total day performance in the same markets in February 2003. At the same time, The Weather Channel’s Web site – www.weather.com -- set a record for usage on a Sunday with 39 million page views. Typically, weather.com has about 350 million page views monthly and averages about 11 million a day. Another weather-related Web product – WeatherBug – recorded 36 million page views on Sunday and Monday.
