Dish Network Discussing Internet TV

Will Dish Network go beyond satellite service to delivering programs over the Internet? The company reportedly has approached several media companies with this idea, according to Sam Schechner and Matt Jarzemsky.

Why? To cut down on rising programming costs, for one reason. "In part, offering channels over the Internet could give Dish more flexibility to exclude channels whose existing contracts with Dish mandate that they appear on the satellite company's most-widely distributed tiers of service," write Schechner and Jarzemsky.
