Report: Fancy Fragrance Sales Up 10%

Consumers are increasingly willing to splurge on prestige fragrances, and the NPD Group says that may predict good news for the coming holiday season. In the first 10 months of the year, total prestige fragrance dollar sales in U.S. department stores rose 10% to $1.7 billion, the Port Washington, N.Y.-based market researcher  says. And units increased 6%. That represents the first year-to-date January to October dollar gain over the past three years for the overall category. The top five fragrance launches of the year: Gucci Guilty Homme (men); Justin Bieber Someday (women); Daisy Eau So Fresh (women); Jimmy Choo (women), and  Sensuous Nude (women).
