MSNBC.com and La Opinión, the online division of the nation's largest Spanish-language newspaper, have entered into a content sharing agreement that incorporates Spanish language local news content into the MSNBC.com affiliate network of websites. The announcement was made today by Uli Haller, MSNBC.com VP, Business Operations and Director, Local Affiliate Program and Mary Zerafa, Director of La Opinión Digital. "The agreement with La Opinión Digital gives MSNBC.com an opportunity to uniquely meet the needs of our growing Spanish language audience," said Haller. "We're delighted to have a partner with the editorial depth and reputation of La Opinión. Their original content in Spanish, which has earned the newspaper wide recognition and a multitude of awards, will focus on a range of issues relevant to the Hispanic community in Los Angeles and beyond." The agreement is the latest in a series of agreements to provide more in-depth local news coverage on MSNBC.com. This deal increases the reach of the MSNBC.com affiliate network of 108 local TV stations, 84 local newspapers, 5 local cable news operations and 2 local radio stations which provide local coverage throughout the U.S. It will also provide greater informational choices for Hispanics as well as MSNBC users.
