Diller's Aereo Online TV Service Files Counter Suit Against Broadcasters

Aereo, the Web-based TV service backed by media mogul Barry Diller, has filed a counter suit against some broadcasters that filed a lawsuit to block it from launching on Wednesday. The counter suite, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan today against a suit from Wald Disney Co., CBS, Comcast, NBC Universal, and others, reports Reuters.

Aereo has not yet filed a counter claim against a second suit filed by broadcasters including News Corp. Univision and the Public Broadcasting Service, but said it would do so.

Aereo claims its technology essentially enables TV viewers to do what they can already do via conventional TV antennas and personal recording devices.
