Former Rutgers student Dharun Ravi was convicted on Friday of committing a hate crime and invasion of privacy for spying on his former roommate with a Webcam. He taped him kissing another man. Ravi had sent out tweets encouraging people to watch and talk about the footage. The roommate later committed suicide. Ravi will be sentenced on May 21 and could face deportation to his native India. He was not charged with Clementi’s death or found guilty on some counts of bias intimidation, a crime in New Jersey. The case brought cyberbullying into the spotlight.
