Dollar General says sales for its fiscal fourth-quarter jumped 20.1% to a record $4.19 billion, compared with $3.49 billion in the same period last year. Excluding sales for an extra week included because of a calendar change, sales climbed 11.8%. And same-store sales rose 6.5%. The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based retailer says adjusted net income increased 33% to $299 million, compared to $226 million a year ago. In the year ahead, it says it expects that same-store sales to gain between 3 and 5%. It plans to open 625 new stores, and remodel another 500.
